She decided returning to acting would be more fun after graduating, and became the first Canadian ever accepted to the prestigious Australian National Institute of Dramatic Art. She landed her first role in the 1989 Australian miniseries Bangkok Hilton alongside Nicole Kidman. Her movie debut came in 1990 in Blood Oath and with it, the busty Canadian star's first nude scene. She's never been shy of shedding all for her art ever since.
Moving to the States, she became a familiar face after appearing in TV dramas like Hotel Room and State of Emergency. Her international reputation went through the roof, however, when she was cast as James Spader's sex-obsessed girlfriend in fellow Canadian director David Cronenberg's controversial NC-17 rated movie Crash.
Her Canadian connections remain strong, with her sharing homes between Vancover and Los Angeles. Deborah was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Genie award, Canada's equivalent to the Oscar, for her performance in the 2000 period drama Sunshine, in which she happily once again showed bush. Starring roles in White Noise, Silent Hill and 88 Minutes have kept her Hollywood profile right up there in the past few years.
