Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on 19 June 1980, the stepdaughter of a documentary filmmaker, Lauren travelled the world with her family growing up, living in Europe, Central America, the USA and Canada. When she was 14, her family moved to Los Angeles, California. Lauren was spotted by a fashion scout just weeks later and began a professional modelling career as a teen. At 19, she signed with an acting agent and soon after was cast in her first role opposite Silvester Stallone in the remake of Get Carter.
She's starred in the movie Pathology from the creators of Crank, but Lauren's probably best known up to now for her TV roles in shows like MTV's boy band parody 2Gether, as Emma deLauro in Mutant X (for which she was nominated for a Gemini award) and her recurring role as Lara Perkins over three series of Showtime's steamy drama The L Word.
The sex scenes and nudity of the L-Word were as nothing, however, to what Lauren Lee Smith gets up to in Lie With Me, which has gone down as a collector's item for fans of on-the-edge sex in mainstream movies. We hope to be seeing a lot more of this Canadian hottie, who has also trod the boards in the likes of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and Cymbeline.
